Manifesto for Collaboration

Alt-HE is a collaborative project to rethink and develop alternative approaches to higher education. It responds to a system under strain and a growing but fragmented landscape of new models and experiments.
The manifesto sets out the rationale, approach, and invitation to contribute—across writing, knowledge development, and community participation.
Alt-HE is conceived as a shared endeavour, shaped by those engaged in exploring and building alternatives.

Business Case

Alt-HE is a lean, low-cost initiative addressing a clear gap in the higher education landscape. While existing organisations focus on policy, provision, or commentary, none combine critical analysis, structured knowledge, and community-building around alternative models.
The platform is designed to scale through content, contributors, and network effects rather than significant upfront investment. Its success depends on establishing credibility, building a high-quality knowledge base, and convening a focused community of practice.
